Now we can customize information and get it broken out the way we need it."
Bringing a company's HR records and information into the electronic era doesn't come without its challenges, especially for companies trying to convince technically challenged or older employees how important it is to use a new, online portal to manage their benefits.
Automation offers more than just benefits management, said Mike Maiorino, president of HRMS Solutions Inc., a Washington D.C.-based consultancy with offices in Boston.
Increasingly, companies are investing in these systems for e-recruiting, which guides Web surfers to a company's HR site through job boards such as Monster.com and eliminates the need for a paper application and resume.
"Boston has a high demand for skilled employees in this kind of workforce, especially with the large presence of biotech and research in the area. The e-recruiting piece for this type of company is key," said Maiorino.
